Journal Impact Factor

InCites Journal Citation Reports (JCR) may be used to evaluate/compare about 8,000 scholarly journals in the sciences and technology fields.  A journal impact factor represents the number of times the "average article in a particular journal has been cited in a particular year"  and may be used to identify:

  • most frequently cited journals in a field
  • highest "impact" journals in a field

JCR supplies impact factors as a specific year OR  a five-year average.
